Note: The play opened on Broadway in 1943 and was a smash hit! The songs, written by Rodgers and Hammerstein, are classics. The movie (starring Shirley Jones as Laurey and Gordon MacRae as Curly) came out in 1955. The story revolves around the farm girl Laurey and her two rival suitors, Curly and Jud (a sinister farmhand played by Rod Steiger).
