Alice Low was born June 5, 1926, in New York, NY. Her mother was a children's book author under the pseuydonym Ann Todd. Alice Low became a writer and producer of educational filmstrips, a writer, editor, and anthologist. She has received several awards and honors for her work. She has written fiction, non-fiction, and poetry for children and young adults. Her writings, especially those for younger readers, are known for humorous plots and fanciful characters.
Alice Low's "Open Up My Suitcase", (This is her first Little Golden Book) illustrated by the great Corinne Malvern, is a simple poem, with pictures (coloured pencil drawings?)
Author and Artist
Alice Low (1926 – 2012) born and raised in New York City, was an American author, lyricist, and editor. She has tought young children, and written an operetta which her pupils performed. She lived in Briarcliff Manor, N. Y., with her husband and young son.
Corinne Malvern has illustrated more than twenty of the most popular Little Golden Books. Among her most recent are Heidi, All Aboard, and Uncle Mistletoe.

Vintage Little Golden Book, Open Up My Suitcase, First Edition, written by Alice Low with pictures by Corinne Malvern, Copyright 1954 Written in rhyme, so much fun to read, this delightful vintage childrens book depicts a boy who is going on a trip and has to pack all the items he needs for the trip. Oddly he packs a towel wash cloth and soap, but he also packs things that any child would include - teddy bear, cookies, football and boat.
