Some of the most famous Little Golden Books were early experiments in product placement. In addition to teaching basic safety tips to young children, the Doctor Dan and Nurse Nancy books included junior-size Johnson & Johnson Band- Aids.

Nurse Nancy an Original Story ( Little Golden Book ) With all 6 band-aid adhesive bandages ( Johnson & Johnson) by Kathryn Jackson, with pictures by Corinne Malvern.
Published by Simon and Schuster, New York, 1952 featuring colorful drawing of a boy and a girl ministering to a doll, with several dolls in their beds awaiting check-ups.
Note from the Publishers: "Two years ago we published a book called Doctor Dan The Bandage Man, which contained six real band-air adhesive bandages. And in no time at all Doctor Dan was taken to heart by more than two million small readers. Soon, however, letters began pouring in, saying "How about Doctor Dan s small sister? She loves to play Nurse and Hospital!" So we went back to Johnson & Johnson and asked if they would be willing to cooperate with us on a book about Nurse Nancy. Johnson & Johnson not only seconded our motion, they made available to us for this book millions and millions of their new Band-Air Plastic Bandages Strips, Patches, and Spots. In helping us with this book, they asked that we point out that Band-Aid is Johnson & Johnson s trademark for its brand of plastic and cloth adhesive bandages, and for several other products in its line."
